Dr Jonathan K. Jefferson is a seasoned leader with a diverse career that bridges the academic and corporate worlds, offering over 30 years of strategic planning, academic leadership, consulting expertise, and a dedication to fostering leadership development. His professional journey has evolved from the technical ranks of AT&T Bell Labs to influential academic administration roles at Lesley University, where he played a key role in evolving the landscape of business education and leadership.

Dr. Jefferson joined Roxbury Community College (RCC) as the 18th President on July 1, 2024. Dr. Jefferson’s year one priorities include securing reaccreditation from NECHE, balancing RCC’s budget, increasing enrollment, and beginning the strategic planning and campus master planning process. As an innovative leader with a strong background in systems improvements, Dr. Jefferson launched a college-wide effort to transform RCC’s IT and organizational structures to streamline and enhance College operations. Under Dr. Jefferson’s expert leadership, the College has already developed a new organizational structure, launched a one-stop application for student support, consolidated LMS activities into a single LMS, expanded student support resources, and more.

Before joining RCC, Dr Jefferson served as Chief Academic Officer and Provost at Lesley University, Director of the Institute for Leadership at the US Coast Guard Academy, and Dean of the Schools of Business at Clark Atlanta University and Albany State University, where he led initiatives to elevate academic programs, advance faculty development, and enhance student success.
