Jason Mikell is a 2x Emmy-award winning meteorologist and Edward R. Murrow winner for WBZ News Mornings, weekdays from 5-7 a.m. on WBZ-TV Boston.

He came to WBZ from Ohio where he was the evening meteorologist at WKYC in Cleveland after  4 years at KVUE in Austin, Texas as a morning anchor, traffic anchor, and meteorologist, and nearly 2 years as Chief Meteorologist at WLIO in Lima, Ohio. 

long-time lover of all of the arts, especially the Boston Pops, Jason spent many years in choir, show choir, theater, and band throughout middle school, high school, and college even leading his 130+ member marching band to win his high school's first state marching band championship as drum major in 2004.  Community impact and connection is an integral part of Jason's personal and professional career having stewarded the launch of WKYC's climate initiative PlanetCLE in 2022, served on the boards of Big Brothers Big Sisters both in West Central Ohio and Cleveland, Ohio, the Austin LGBT Chamber of Commerce, and raising more than $7500 for the American Cancer Society's Real Men Wear Pink campaign. Jason is also no stranger to the national airwaves being featured live on Live! with Kelly and Ryan in 2021 with their virtual road trip series through Austin, Texas.  

Jason continues to give back and volunteer with his memberships with the American Meteorology Society, National Weather Association, the National Association of Black Journalists, Gamma Theta Upsilon, and Phi Theta Kappa fraternities. He has also been the recipient early on in his career being welcomed into the Ohio School Board's Association Media Honor Roll and earning first place as the state of Ohio's "Best Weathercast" via the Cleveland Press Club in 2023.
