Background
Nahomi Carlisle is Associate Vice President and Chief Access and Opportunity Officer and a member of the president’s cabinet at Bunker Hill Community College, the largest of the 15 community colleges in Massachusetts.
Prior to her tenure at the college, she served as Director of Diversity and Inclusion at the Massachusetts Department of Public Health and was a member of the Commissioner’s executive team. Carlisle is an accomplished higher education executive, attorney, and equity-centered leader with more than two decades of experience advancing opportunity, institutional excellence, and community impact.
Nahomi is widely recognized for her ability to lead with integrity, build meaningful partnerships, and champion enterprise-wide initiatives focused on student success, workforce development, compliance, talent strategy, and organizational culture. Her work in institutional strategy, policy, compliance, and cross-functional operations reflects a deep commitment to expanding access, strengthening systems of support, and ensuring that every student has the opportunity to thrive.
She is also member of the NAACP, the National Association of Diversity Officers in Higher Education (NADOHE), the National Bar Association, the Massachusetts Black Lawyers Association, and the Boston Bar Association. She is the recipient of the Commonwealth’s Manuel Carballo Award for Public Service and a finalist for the American Association of Community Colleges Rising Star Executive Award. Nahomi earned her bachelor’s degree in public policy and social change from Bentley University and her Juris Doctor from New England Law Boston.
