PSA and Donor Recognition

World Unity, Inc. has been dedicated to its mission and vision for the past 19 years. In 2013 we shared our vision with America through a 30 second public service announcement. It showcased the powerful message in the World Unity Landmark and invited viewers to visit World Unity, Inc.’s website. The PSA is designed to engage and direct viewers to our website where they can make a donation. We distributed the PSA to combined total of about 450 TV and radio stations across the country. Some of the major cities include Boston, New York City, Philadelphia, Hartford and Miami. CBS Outdoor donated a billboard in Chicago to help us promote our message.

We re-designed our website and created a more engaging site. It tells the compelling story of our mission and vision to transform America and the world with our timeless and transformative message on equality, diversity and inclusion. We rolled out our new site in April 2013. The goal is to engage viewers and inspire donations.

We launched a donor recognition program. Companies, non-profits and individuals have an opportunity to leave a legacy. By participating in this program with a contribution their name will be permanently recognized on the donor recognition wall. Some of our core sponsors and individuals have signed up.

Our 17th Annual Diversity and Inclusion Gala was a success. It was held Friday, October 19th at the Boston Marriott Hotel in Copley Square. This is our signature event each year to generate awareness, bring the community together and raise funds. We continue to secure new sponsors as well as maintain some of our core sponsors. Two new sponsors joined us this year; Gilbane Building Company and Global Companies LLC.

With the help of Jose Coronado a new board member we hosted two wine tasting events at an art gallery on Newbury St. It was very well attended and provided a more intimate event to introduce the project to the community.

The revenues generated for fiscal year 2013 totaled $44,998.68 dollars and the total expenses for the year were $44,216.50. The keynote speaker was Karen Arpino-Shaffer, Vice President, Transportation Center of Excellence Leader Gilbane Building Company.

We co-sponsored with WROR FM, the 9th Annual Statewide poetry contest promoting diversity and equality. The winning poems aired on WROR FM for one month. We had entries from 13 school districts.
