About Dr.Franklin

Dr. Franklin Evans is the first Black president in West Liberty State University’s 183-year history. Evans – who is West Liberty’s 37th president – is formerly president of Voorhees College and was previously interim president of South Carolina State University. During his tenure, SCSU’s enrollment broke its goal, fundraising increased by 687%, alumni support rose and the school balanced its budget.

Evans – who is active in the NAACP – holds a doctoral degree in higher education administration from Georgia State University and a bachelor’s degree in entomology from the University of Georgia. He also holds “a degree in journalism, middle childhood education, curriculum and instruction and administration and supervision from Georgia State University.
