Unstoppable Diversity and Inclusion Initiatives

The corona virus was making its way to America and there was a lot of uncertainty about the impact it would have. We decided not have to our event due to the uncertainty. Marriott Hotel has our deposit of $1,000. We will see how things develop in 2021.

We did not make any progress with securing a site for the World Unity Landmark in Piers Park in East Boston. Gene sent us information on a potential site in a development taking place in Dorchester, the Dorchester Bay City Development. We are pursuing it.

In 2020 we produced a video, World Unity Inc.’s Unstoppable Diversity and Inclusion Initiatives. It featured Celeste Warren, Vice President Global Diversity and Inclusion Center of Excellence at Merck and included 6 non-profits across the nation representing protected class. A leader from each organization expressed in 60 seconds what diversity and inclusion meant to them. They each agreed to share our public service announcement on their Facebook as it expressed equality for everyone and supported their mission.

The organizations included, United States Hispanic Leadership Institute, Chicago, Illinois, India Association, North Dallas, Texas, Asian American Community Service, Las Vegas, NV, the Urban League at Los Angeles, CA, the MKE LGBT organization, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, One Step Beyond, an organization that works with the mentally and physically challenged from Glendale Arizona, Girls for Change, San Jose CA, and Women’s Empowerment Coalition of NY. Sara gave a 5 minute presentation highlighting the Sun poem inspiring the founding of World Unity Inc. The video ended with a performance by Russell Watts singing Ain’t No Stopping us Now. This was a major initiative for the year.

We secured companies to be sponsors for the video and continuing to support our work throughout the year. They included UPS, AECOM, Chestnut Hill Realty, CVS Health, Lifespan, Merck, Trillium Asset Management, and Write the World. We provided opportunities for companies to be sponsors for four months and have their logos on the website, they included AAFCPA, Spaulding Rehab, Patricia Ng, Helen Praysman, Berkshire Hathway, Massachusetts Black Lawyers Association. We did not make any progress with securing a site for the World Unity Landmark in Piers Park in East Boston.

We continued to work with Jaclyn O’Connor in the Malden public schools and Sharon Kathryn in the Newton public school planting the program Singing Equality across America and around the World. in continued to share our PSA with radio stations and our program Singing Equality across America and around the World with school districts.

The total revenues we raised for 2020 that includes interest from our Fidelity investments account was $48,323.
