Hugh Welsh is the president and general counsel of DSM North America. DSM is a global leader in nutrition, health and material sciences with $12 billion in sales, 23,000 employees, including 4,000 in the U.S., and operations in more than 100 countries. Hugh is active in executing DSM’s mergers and acquisitions. government affairs, sustainability and innovation strategic growth drivers in North America.
DSM develops, manufactures and sells nutritional and food ingredients, biomedical materials, specialty plastics and resins, fibers and renewable energy.
Welsh serves on several DSM global and regional management teams and has direct responsibilities in DSM’s nutrition and food specialties operations as well as responsibility for legal, government affairs, communications, corporate partnerships and DSM’s sustainability initiatives in North America. Before joining DSM, Welsh worked for the American Standard Companies, McCarter & English LLP and others. Welsh currently serves on the Board of Directors of Partners in Food Solutions, OFII, Patheon, Africa Improved Foods and the US Chamber of Commerce Foundation.
